Getting around

The house is located on our horse farm in the countryside, there is no public transportation within walking distance.

Akurgerði Guest House is set on a family-owned horse farm located in the beautiful area of Ölfus, 8 minutes drive from the towns Hveragerði and Selfoss and 30 minutes from the capital Reykjavík. The drive to the international airport in Keflavik is 1 hour and 15 minutes.

We very much recommend our guests to stay more than one night here. To really experience Iceland you have to take it slow and not just rush from one sight to the next.

You will be surprised how everything here changes with the light. Just sitting in your private hot tub and enjoying this stunning view here and watching our horses right outside your windows is breathtaking. So if you plan a trip to Iceland don't forget to also plan time for relaxing

There are many possible activities in our area, like hiking to a natural hot spring, fishing, golf, riding,...

Many of Iceland's natural sights like the Golden Circle, Þingvellir, many beautiful waterfalls and a volcano crater are in a short driving distance.

The Blue Lagoon is just over one hour from us.

And the Secret Lagoon and Fridheimar with its famous tomato soup are about 45 min from us.

And you can plan relaxed day tours to the diamond beach and Vík, explore the capital Reykjavík, go hiking in Landmannalaugar or visit the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

The location of our farm Akurgerði is private and secluded, but at the same time we are just 2 minutes drive from the main Highway 1 and just 8 minutes drive to the towns Selfoss and Hveragerði where you can find several supermarkets and great restaurants.

So as you can see, our farm Akurgerdi is the perfect base for many activities but also the best place for relaxing, taking it slow and just enjoying this breathtaking nature Iceland has to offer.
